Christ Church Anglican Cemetery
(Last updated July 9,2005)
Christ Church Anglican Cemetery is located on the northeast corner at Centre Road and County Road 17 - Whitfield. The cemetery can been seen from the road and is just behind the church. A couple of things to note with this cemetery. It appears as though some lots are still available for stones. There was a stone that was placed with a death date of 2003 and it looked incomplete - I have omitted this stone at this time.
In addition, you will notice the large bush directly in front of the cemetery. This made it difficult to photograph the front row of stones, and therefore, some have been omitted at this time. The memorial stone is also in the front, but is hiding behind the bush. This is a great restoration - it's just too bad the bush is taking over the front.

Sue Fregeau and her 'little helpers' have uncovered some stones, with permission by the township. We hope they are a goldmine for researchers out there. Thanks again Sue! Your incentive to help uncover history is a blessing to us all!

Primrose Presbyterian Cemetery

This cemetery is located on Centre Road, just north of 5 Sideroad. Unfortunately, this cemetery was vandalized in the summer of 2005. Click here to see the article regarding the vandalism (Orangeville Citizen dated July 28, 2005 page A4). I will revisit this cemetery when it is restored. It's a costly project now and your support is needed (please see article for details.)
Plea for restoration - amateur video clip upon latest visit on August 17, 2007
The above photos were taken just after the vandalism was announced. The photos below are of the restored stones.

St. Luke’s Cemetery 1851 Mulmur 2001 |
|
A log church was built first and in 1860 the stone church was built. The stone church was taken down in 1927 and a new brick building was erected in Rosemont. The land for the cemetery and the land on which the first two churches stood was donated to the synod by John Little. The cemetery is believed to be the oldest in the township and it was used for many years by all the early settlers in the Rosemont district, irrespective of their religious denomination. This information is from "Mulmur, The Story of a Township" published in 1951 by the Mulmur Centennial Committee. <The picture is on a post card. Date of photo is unknown but obviously before 1927.> Thanks to Marilyn Goodfellow for sharing this! |
This cemetery is located on the 7th line north of Highway 89.
